Critically-acclaimed composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Beck Hansen is expanding his creativity and artistic exploration to other realms, by launching his very own online art gallery, Colorspace.

- Double, by Olaf Breuning. 2002

- Easter Bunnies, by Olaf Breuning. 2004

- 20 Dollar Bill, by Olaf Breuning. 2005

Swiss-born, NYC-based artist Olaf Breuning is Beck’s first bet for his Colorspace project. Photos of Breuning’s humorous (and very sarcastic) work – installations, drawings, photography and sculpture – are available at the gallery, and a special t-shirt, made by the artist, can be bought at Beck’s online store, which also sells music items, apparel and accessories for quite affordable prices.

Each month, a new emerging artist, selected by Beck, will have his work featured at the Colorspace online gallery. During each exhibition, special items design by the featured artists will be available at the store.

A couple of days ago, another one of Beck’s projects, Charlotte Gainsbourg’s IRM album, was released. IRM was written and produced by Beck. The record’s first single, Heaven Can Wait, is a Gainsbourg-Beck duo, and its video was directed by Keith Schofield, who has previously directed videos by Lenny Kravitz, CSS, Ting Tings, Ladyhawke, Supergrass, Death Cab for Cutie, The Notwist, among other artists.
And since we are talking Beck, we highly recommend his website’s new section, Irrelevant Topics, which assemblies conversations between Beck and others artists. Conversations with musician Tom Waits, actor Will Ferrell and Shannon Theule (a Will Ferrell look-a-like who worked as an extra on the Heaven Can Wait video) are the first contents in Beck’s Irrelevant Topics section.
