Spring/Summer 2010
Gloria Coelho is one of Brazil’s greatest old school designers who’s currently in activity. And surely her store is one of the Boutiques to go in São Paulo.
At 58, Coelho has been dressing sophisticated women for over 30 years, Her creations are futuristic with shaped volumes, out of this world dresses and nicely cut tailoring. Oh yeah, and lots of black, though her collections usually range on neutral colors.
Fall/Winter 2009
She’s recently made the gossip headlines with the breakup of her husband of over 20 years and also important designer Reinaldo Lourenço. The couple’s had a fashion prodigy son Pedro Lourenço, now 18.
Her store in the Jardins neighborhood, in a simple wide corridor with both side racks, shares space with Carlota Joakina, the designer’s second line, created to a younger audience. Though Coelho isn’t in charge of the pieces anymore she has taken over creative control of the second brand and plans of reliving her first label G, which was first launched in 1974, after she returned to the country from Paris.
Pieces from the in-store Summer/Spring 2010 collection are on sale with a 50% discount, while her next Fall/Winter collection inspired by the nature and its repetitions should hit shelves early on March.
